Storybook Walk Extras
At StorybookWalk.com, we like to make our Storybook Walk Editions EXTRA-ordinary. By adding various extras, like prompts, stations, or audio, our walks are more interactive, more fun, and more accessible to everyone.
Prompts
We make reading an entirely new experience by adding activity, literacy, and discussion prompts that get children talking, jumping, singing, and having fun. From “Give your neighbor a high five” to “Sing the text to the tune of Old MacDonald” children will be amazed at just how much fun a Storybook Walk can be.
Example: Activity Prompt 8 from The Mighty McKraken:
Have a silent, invisible sword fight with your neighbor.
Stations
Sometimes a Storybook Walk just begs for more. Stations are additional hands-on activities that can be set up easily next to each Storybook Walk frame/spread. See catalog listings to see which books include station ideas.
Example: Activity Prompt 2 from Ricky the rock that couldn’t roll. Close your eyes and feel your rock under your fingers. How does your rock feel?
Audio
We are currently adding audio to many of our Storybook Walk Editions. Why you may wonder is audio necessary?
Audio adds another level for a child to understand the story. Not all children read the same. Some children grow up bilingual and may be learning more than one language. Other children may have learning disabilities that make reading challenging. We would like to make our Storybook Walk Editions accessible to all children regardless of their reading level.
If our Storybook Walk Editions have an audio option, you will find information about it on the product page.
